Schools Out for the Summer

Today was the last day of school
and I am one happy Momma!

Both of the kids have grown so much this year.

Today was also the 5th grade award ceremony!
The Diva added a few more to her growing collection.

She thought she knew all the awards
that she was getting, but
her last award was a suprise.
She recived the
President's Award For Educational Excellence
That means she had to have a GPA of 3.75 or higher and
score high in reading or math on state tests or
nationally-normed tests.

Her teacher this year had her hands full
with her class, but she really tried to help
the kids shine!

 Mr. Man's teacher was awsome
and a perfect fit for him.

Both kids had another
great school year.

I am happy that school
is over and
ready to get our
summer started!!!

Dr. Seuss Week

Dr. Seuss week is a big deal at the kids
school?!?
I am a little confused about why,
but the kids had fun with the
themed days.

First was crazy hair and socks day.
Given that his normal hair style
is considered crazy by some,
we really had to go big or go home!
It was red on the top, white on the back and
blue with shimmer on the sides.
He was playing it up for the camera.

The Diva was competing in an oral reading
competition on crazy hair day. We decided
it would be best to do her hair after the competition
was over.
I only had about 5 minutes to come up with
something crazy and Diva approved.
She was a fan of my work!
One of the other days you could
dress like your favorite Dr. Seuss character.
Time for a confession....
We have 2 Dr Seuss books in our house.
We never really got into him.
Each of the kids found a character
they wanted to be.
That is when the fun really began.

Confession #2
I don't make costumes, I buy them!
I have a list of about 4 stores that
I shop at anytime the kids need costumes,
but this time I struck out!
The panic was real!
What was I going to do?

One Amazon order, 2 German
party stores later, and one late night for me,
I managed to pull it off!!

I sent two happy kids off to school!

I will be happy to go back to a school
that talks more about Jesus,
than Dr. Seuss!

Back to School

After a great summer filled with
travel, parks, friends and a new little brother,
it was time to head back to school.
I may be the only parent that thinks
summer break is too short and I am always
sad to see it end.
School started on his 7th birthday this year and
it was not the way he wanted to spend his day.
This will be her last year in elementary school
because next year she heads to middle school.

First Day of School

Today was a very big day in our house.
The kids started school.
We had many firsts today!!
First day at a new school, first time
at a DoD school, and our first
 time walking to school!

 (In Diva mode)

If we take the sidewalk to school it take about 4 minutes,
but if we cut across the soccer field
it is about 2 minutes to get to school.

Why is it so hard to send them off to school?

While the kids were in school
I put together
KinderCones for them.
The history of the Schultuete
dates back to 1810.
The cones are given to kids on their
first year of school.
I bent the rule a little and made one for each
of the kids.

The kids had a great first day!
Both of them want to go back tomorrow.
I ask for prayers as we adjust
to the new school, new rules,
and new friends.
This is the first time not in a private
school and I am worried how they
will do in a new setting.

First and Last

First Day of school                              Last day of school
First day of school                     Last day of school

Both of the kids had an amazing year of school.
Mr. Man is just as social as his sister and
both kids love to learn.

The Diva did another year of voice and piano lessons.
I cannot wait to see what next year brings
                         for the both of them.
