Lunch and History (Philadelphia Day 2 (5/28/2022)

We took an Uber back to the hotel after visiting the Battleship New Jersey

and then decide to make the trek to lunch. It was a 1.5 mile walk,

but the weather was great so we figured why not.

While the walk itself was not bad, it took us on a path that was not child friendly. I am grateful that it was

not at night because that had been my original plan. I would recommend you Uber if you plan to go with

 kids.

We arrived at Geno's Steaks and Pat's King of Steaks to test the best Philly cheesesteaks in the area.

When I was planning the trip these two were the most recommend, listed as a must try,

and had been around forever. The two locations were catty

corner of each other.

We split up and got in line. The line was long for both, but moves very fast. Bring cash and know what you want before you get to the window. This is not a place to take your time and make requests.

I went to Pat's, and you ordered and paid for your sandwich at one window and then was

immediately handed your cheesesteak and then you moved to another window that you could order

drinks and fries.

The hubby had found a table at Geno's so we met up

and the family did a little taste testing.

We both got two different styles of  cheesesteak, but for some reason I only got a photo of 3 of them.

After testing and talking the verdict was......
Not a fan!
While they did like parts of each sandwich they were not an overall fan. If they could have mixed parts from all four sandwiches they would have had one that they liked, but not enough to make the hike again to eat it.
With almost full bellies we made the track back to the other side of town.
We did run into a problem when planning this trip. Most of the places we wanted to visit closed at 5 pm. That always makes me stretch my head, because we could have done so much more if placed stayed open till 9pm.
With time not on our side and not wanting to visit any of the big places that takes hours to explore we headed to the Betsy Ross House.

We decided to do an audio tour, but the house also
has Betsy and friends around the house
who will let you know all about day to day life
and answer any question that you have.

While the house is on the small side it was packed with lots of history.
I loved that we could interact with the actors.

We then headed back to the hotel to get some appetizers and call it a night.

Tomorrow was our last full day and it was filled to the brim with things to do.
