Salzburg

Salzburg, Austria (2016) was a short 4-day trip for us.
It was the kids first week back at school and with the Diva
now in middle school, we let her go half the day before we
pulled her out.
We always try to make one long stop
on our road trips. We all get to walk around
and Sweet Boy gets to play.

With the road construction, Europe traffic, and
a detour down a closed road, we made it to
our hotel just in time to grab dinner and go to bed.
We got up early the next morning
and headed back in Germany.
We started our day at the salt mines at Berchtesgaden.
It was really cool, but we couldn't take pictures.
Then we headed back to Austria,
to explore Salzburg on foot.

We had a lot of fun checking out
the stores and looking around.

We decided to check out Fortress Hohensalzburg,
but unlike most people, we opted not
to take the tram, but to walk
to the top!
Half way to the top! It was a hike!

 The view was amazing!
Can you see the little gold ball?
It looks so small now, but it was huge!

It was one of the largest medieval castles in Europe and was
situated at an altitude of 506m.
We made our way back down and called it
a night.
We had a jam-packed day exploring the area.
